RUMOR: Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Might Return on the Big Screen in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS
A fresh rumor suggests that Charlie Cox, who stars as Daredevil in Daredevil: Born Again, could reprise the Man Without Fear in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Fans have eagerly awaited a big-screen comeback for Cox, and he’s openly expressed interest in joining an Avengers team, visibly disappointed that Marvel Studios hasn’t yet extended a call for him to assemble with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Cox’s surprise MCU introduction occurred in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, though many fans don’t expect him to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Still, the demand from audiences for a Daredevil–Spider-Man crossover remains loud. Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige haven’t ignored that desire entirely, and with Daredevil: Born Again renewed for a third season in 2027, some fans wonder if that timing could also mark a bridge to the big screen.
In a development that’s sure to energize fans, scooper Daniel Richtman reports that Daredevil could appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s unlikely, however, that Ben Affleck will return to the role, despite prior reports that he turned down other high-profile projects like Deadpool and Wolverine.
With a film of Avengers scale, it feels natural to expect every available talent to contribute, and many fans hope the Russo Brothers will craft a meaningful, memorable spot for a character whose return to theaters has been anticipated for years.
As Spider-Man: Brand New Day leans toward a street-level adventure, Daredevil’s potential big-screen return could position him for a dynamic alliance with Spider-Man in the web-slinger’s fifth film, making a team-up increasingly plausible.
At GalaxyCon New Orleans in September, Cox weighed in on the possibility of Daredevil joining the New Avengers. “That’s funny. That’s a really good question,” he said, adding that Matt Murdock might consider it. He tempered his optimism, noting Daredevil’s lone-wolf tendencies and preference for solo missions, likening that stance to Frank Castle. Still, he admitted, “I would be absolutely thrilled. I’d be chomping at the bit to do that.”
Another rumor circulating today comes from @MyTimeToShineH, who claims Marvel Studios is revisiting Strange Academy, a concept centered on Wong and a cohort of MCU sorcerers, including Zelma Stanton and America Chavez.
Avengers: Doomsday is officially casting a broad ensemble, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Robert Downey Jr., Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman as new additions to the Avengers franchise. The Fantastic Four: First Steps project adds Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, joining established X-Men alumni such as Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden. Channing Tatum is also tied to the Deadpool & Wolverine realm.
The confirmed cast for Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Sadie Sink, Benedict Cumberbatch, Letitia Wright, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Bettany, and Hayley Atwell.
The Russo Brothers will direct Avengers: Doomsday from a script by Stephen McFeely, with Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) also contributing to the screenplay. Avengers: Doomsday is slated for a December 18, 2026 release, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
